Electric Island is one of the sought after festivals in Toronto every year mainly due to its ability to showcase unique talent and cater to a crowd that refuses to be apart of the norm. Over the years, I have been to many festivals but nothing quite compares to the style and atmosphere of Electric Island. The crowd is mature, the music is always spot on, and the quality of the event keeps getting better and better each year.
This year, Torontonian’s are anticipating an even better celebration than most Canada Day parties since this year is our countries 150th birthday. It also marks the long awaited debut performance by Richie Hawtin who will be making his first Electric Island appearance. Sharing the main stage with the techno pioneer is Maceo Plex and German techno producer Recondite.
Since it’s inception, Electric Island has evolved drastically over the years. Currently, the festival hosts two stages. The main stage and a second stage which showcases local talent and other international names. With an increase in spectatorship each year, it is currently in its fifth year of operation. Electric Island is home for many Torontonian’s and with this Canada being a historic moment for all Canadian’s, it is an event that you will not want to miss!
